After upgrading to firmware version HPG3B (HPG3) or downgrading from version HPG3B to version HPG2 on the SATA hard drives listed in the Scope section (below), error messages similar to the following will appear when the server is rebooting:

Select 'F1' to continue with logical drive(s) disabled
Select 'F2' to accept data loss and to re-enable logical drive(s)
(RESUME = 'F1' OR 'F2' KEY) (default = 'F1' in 0 seconds)

RESOLUTION

This has been corrected for drive models GB1000EAMYC and GB0750EAMYB in hard drive firmware version HPD6, which can be located for download using the following navigation:

Firmware for Drive Models GB1000EAMYC and GB0750EAMYB

  1. Go to
  2. Select Support & Drivers.
  3. Select Drivers and Software.
  4. Enter 'GB1000EAMYC or 'GB0750EAMYB' for the product and click Search.
  5. Select the appropriate operating system.
  6. Select Firmware - SATA Storage Disk.
  7. Download and install ** CRITICAL ** Online ROM Flash Component for Windows - GB0750EAMYB and GB1000EAMYC Drives Version HPD6 (or later).
  8. Reboot the server to complete the installation.

Until a permanent solution becomes available for the remaining drive models, the drive array can be re-enabled by pressing the F2 key during Power-On Self-Test (POST). The logical drive will then perform as expected.

This will be corrected for drive models GB0500EAFYL, GB0250EAFYK, and GB0160EAPRR in a future version of the drive firmware. This advisory will be updated when more information becomes available.
